Graduated colors offer groups of six values within a color family for shading or for using varying or contrasting values of related colors; below, the darkest value is described first.
Choose one of the six value steps from a group and order in bundles (about 14 strips: a 3"x18" piece of wool cut into #6 size strips=6/32" wide) $1.95 per bundle. 10 or more assorted bundles for $1.75/bundle. (To get all six values of a color group, you must get six bundles.) There are 138 choices (six values x 23 groups) plus background colors listed separately below. The value steps are designated by a suffix: -1,-2,-3,-4,-5, or -6 after the color group number. Step -1 is the lightest, step -6 the darkest. Example: #13-5 Watermelon is the next-to-deepest value in the Watermelon color group. One bundle will hook about 3"x3"(you need approx.16 bundles to hook a square foot). Cutting your own yardage is by far less expensive, but this is a good way to get small amounts of lots of colors, or to try rug hooking if you don't have a strip cutter yet.
