Forestheart Studio is pleased to announce that we now offer mid-day knitting instructional get-togethers on Fridays
All are welcome,
from novices wanting to learn for the first time, through experienced
knitters wanting to gather with other knitters. The groups meet
from about 11:30 am til 1:30 pm each Friday. Two experienced knitters
alternate as leaders. On second and fourth Fridays, our knitter
in residence is Sarah Drenning, winner of two first place ribbons
in this year's Frederick County Fair for her knitted sweaters
(and recent participant in Interweave's 17 day Scandanvian Journey
for knitters). On first and third Fridays, Marti Zweig, a lifelong
and enthusiastic knitter, leads. Each has a different approach
and they compliment one another well. In rare months that have
a fifth Friday, special programs and visiting teachers are contemplated.
A small fee can be paid as you go or in four month (discounted)
blocks.
The first and third Fridays of the month, Marti is there to instruct in basic knitting skills and help with projects. Marti has knitted all her life, and much of her work is developed on her own without published patterns.
The second and fourth Fridays of the month, Sarah will focus on skills beyond the basics and lead an Afghan Squares group using patterns to do a different square each month. An organizational meeting for those interested in making an afghan will be Friday October 26 at 11:30 am. The special skills for the square of the month will be taught on the second Fridays of each month, and fourth Fridays will be for problem solving, catching up, worktime and sharing, and help with projects other than the afghan. All are welcome to attend, whether you want to learn the skills (without making an afghan), or want to work in the company of the group on a project of your own, or plan to build an afghan. If you are a complete beginner, start coming on Fridays now so you have basic skills by the orientation meeting on October 26 for the Afghan project.
Fees: $10/meeting, or 8 meetings $72 (this is a four month block of two meetings a month, or a two month block of four meetings a month). Basic knitting supplies are available at the studio now too!
